E-Day is a new prequel story set 14 years before the first Gears of War, when Marcus and Dom were still young soldiers in the Coalition of Ordered Governments. Their world, Sera, is in a relative stage of piece when the Locust Horde strikes on Emergence Day and threatens to wipe out all of the humans living on the planet. The game is also introducing a new city, Kalona, which will be one of the central locations for the story within the game.

The Coalition is developing Gears of War: E-Day, which doesn’t currently have a release date, The game will likely be an Xbox Series X|S console exclusive, although there have been some rumors about Gears of War making the leap to PlayStation 5. Series creator Cliff Bleszinski has voiced his support for Gears of War appearing on PS5, even though he left the franchise a long time ago.
