Another game from an Xbox series is heading to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack later this month. The Nintendo 64 title Banjo-Tooie will arrive for premium subscribers on October 25, joining three other Rare-developed games on the service: GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, and Blast Corps.
On YouTube, Nintendo shared a trailer (seen below) for Banjo-Tooie coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The sequel starring a bear-bird duo is landing on the subscription service almost three years after Banjo-Kazooie launched on Switch Online. Both are classic Nintendo 64 platforming games that Sea of Thieves studio Rare created while Nintendo owned a minority stake in the company. However, in 2002, Microsoft acquired the developer.
Banjo-Tooie originally released in 2000 and sees the return of the villain Gruntilda. Nintendo notes that this time the 3D platformer has a widescreen mode on Switch. The sequel is also available on Xbox consoles as a standalone title and as part of Rare Replay. As for the future of the series, one former developer doesn’t think people want another Banjo-Kazooie game.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack just celebrated its third birthday with a teaser for new stuff on the way, though it’s unknown what that could be. However, Nintendo is launching a mysterious Switch Online test soon that might give a hint at what’s on the horizon.
The Expansion Pack membership costs $50 annually for individuals, while the family plan is $80 per year.
