The sales for the latest Atlus RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, have already surpassed one million copies on launch day. That makes it Atlus’s fastest-selling game ever, surpassing the record set by Persona 3 Reload earlier in 2024.

According to a press release from Sega (as translated by Eurogamer), the figure includes includes both physical and digital copes of the game. Developer Studio Zero has also chimed in, saying that it expresses deep gratitude to everyone who’s supported the game.

The game is also sitting at over 60,000 concurrent players on Steam, the highest count of any Atlus game so far. For comparison, Sega’s other 2024 releases like Persona 3 Reload and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth peaked at around 45,000 to 46,000 concurrent Steam players. Other RPGs, such as Final Fantasy XV and XVI, peaked at around 29,000 and 27,000 concurrent players, respectively.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Each platform has a demo available to try out and all of your progress is transferred over to the main game, with achievements retroactively unlocking. The PC version over at Fanatical is also available at a slight discount at the moment too.

In GameSpot’s 10/10 Metaphor: ReFantazio review, we said, “Metaphor: ReFantazio combines Atlus’ skill in crafting emotionally charged RPGs with brilliant plot twists, a keen sense of adventure, and fantastical idealism to create one of its greatest games yet.”
