Hogwarts Legacy was one of the top-selling games of 2023, and its enduring popularity has kept this corner of Harry Potter’s Wizarding World alive. While there hasn’t been any definitive word about a sequel yet, a new report states that Hogwarts Legacy DLC could arrive sooner than expected.
According to Insider Gaming, Warner Bros. Games is developing a Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition that will feature 10-15 hours of new content including an additional story quest, side missions, costumes, and more. It will reportedly also be available as DLC for gamers who already purchased Hogwarts Legacy.
The report suggests that the Definitive Edition and associated DLC may arrive as soon as 2025 in part because Warner Bros. Games wants to offset the ongoing losses that occurred from the massive underperformance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. As recently as last month, Warner Bros. has stated that making a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is “a top priority.” Getting the DLC out may make the wait between the first game and its follow-up more bearable.
While the franchise also has an upcoming Harry Potter TV series on HBO, the characters and the world created by J.K. Rowling have often been overshadowed by the author’s anti-trans views, which she continuously shares online and via social media. This has put her at odds with several of the actors from the Harry Potter films, as well as a large number of her fans.
