Archetypes are classes in Metaphor: ReFantazio, drastically changing the abilities and weapons each party member can use. As you continue through your journey, you will level up these Archetypes and unlock more advanced versions. In addition to the many classes you can unlock during your journey, there are also special, end-game classes that are powerful, but have strict requirements to use. Below you can find the requirements for each party member’s end-game class. Check out our Advanced Archetype guide to see how to unlock every Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio, which will be helpful for unlocking the Heroic Embodiments.

These classes are unlocked late in Metaphor: ReFantazio and there are some mild spoilers in this guide. If you want to avoid any potential spoilers, return once you have unlocked the first Heroic Embodiment, which happens as part of the main story.

Protagonist and how to unlock Heroic Embodiments

The protagonist gains access to the Prince class as part of the main story.

The Protagonist gains access to the Prince class as part of the main story in late September.

Once this happens, every other party member can learn their relevant Heroic Embodiment class, provided you have met the other requirements. These classes also require 30,000 MAG, so you may need to grind or be frugal if you wish to unlock them all. Unlike other Archetypes, these classes can also only be used by that specific party member.

Each party member will need to be at max Follower rank in order to use their Heroic Embodiment, even if all other requirements are met.

Strohl

Strohl can become the Royal Warrior, once the requirements are met.

Strohl’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Warrior, which has access to powerful Slash attacks and self-buffs to deal a large amount of damage. In order to use the Royal Warrior, Strohl will need to reach rank 20 with both the Samurai and Warlord Archetypes, which are the elite Archetypes from the Warrior and Samurai trees respectively.

Hulkenberg

Hulkenburg can become the Royal Knight after mastering a few other Archetypes.

Hulkenberg’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Knight, which uses its high defense to be the tank for the rest of the party. It also has an incredible passive ability, which guarantees that all ailments only last one turn for your party. In order to use the Royal Knight, Hulkenberg will need to reach Paladin Rank 20, Dark Knight Rank 15, and Elemental Master Rank 15. The first two Archetypes are from the Knight tree, while Elemental Master is from the Mage tree.

Heismay

Hesimay can become the Royal Thief after ranking up in the Merchant and Gunner trees.

Heismay’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Thief, which utilizes Dark magic attacks. It also has high agility, which goes hand in hand with some of its passive abilities, including one that halves an opponent’s hit rate when targeting the Royal Thief and another passive that causes an enemy to lose all of its remaining turn icons if an attack is dodged. To use the Royal Thief, Heismay will need Ninja Rank 20, Dragoon Rank 15, and Tycoon Rank 15. These are the elite Archetypes from the Thief, Gunner, and Merchant trees.

Junah

Junah can embody the Royal Masked Dancer after mastering the Masked Dancer and Faker trees.

Junah’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Masked Dancer, which uses abilities to apply weaknesses to all enemies. It also still uses the Masks to gain new abilities, like the Masked Dancer Archetypes, but it can use the most powerful versions of these accessories. Its passives increase its magic damage significantly and if an enemy is defeated by a magic attack from the Royal Masked Dancer, no turn icons are used. In order to use the Royal Masked Dancer, Junah will need Persona Master Rank 20 and Trickster Rank 20. These are the elite Archetypes from the Masked Dancer and Faker trees.

Eupha

Eupha can become the Royal Summoner, which can summon some powerful

Eupha’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Summoner, which has access to a large selection of powerful magic attacks. The Royal Summoner has access to a large variety of magic, making it a great class for targeting enemy weaknesses, especially when paired with the Royal Masked Dancer. The Royal Summoner can also use more powerful Vessels, adding even more abilities to their arsenal. In order to use the Royal Summoner, Eupha will need Devil Summoner Rank 20 and Soul Hacker Rank 20. These are the elite Archetypes from the Summoner and Seeker trees.

Basilio

Basilio can become the Royal Berserker after mastering multiple melee classes.

Basilio’s Heroic Embodiment is the Royal Berserker, which uses powerful Strike attacks to deal massive physical damage to enemies. Its passive abilities increase both Strike damage and critical hit chance, pumping up its damage output even higher. Its main Strike ability also inflicts a weakness to Strike, making it a truly powerful class for dealing damage. In order to use the Royal Berserker, Basilio will need Destroyer Rank 20 and Martial Artist Rank 20. These are the elite Archetypes from the Berserker tree and Brawler tree.
