Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake launches on October 8 for PlayStation 5 and PC–but when might the game come to Xbox, if it does at all? We don’t have all the answers as of yet, but there is a strong indication that, if the game is headed to Xbox, it won’t be for at least one year.
When could Silent Hill 2 remake come to Xbox?
A trailer for the game from September 2024 contained a strong clue. The fine print of the recent trailer mentioned that the Silent Hill 2 remake will be exclusive on console to PS5 until October 8, 2025. What this means is that’s the soonest the game could come to other formats, including Xbox.
This doesn’t outright confirm that Silent Hill 2’s remake is coming to Xbox in October 2025, only that it is the soonest possible date that it could. There is also no guarantee the game will come to Xbox at all.
What about the Switch 2?
Nintendo is working on a new home console, the Switch 2, and some expect it could be released by October 2025, thus paving the way for it to be a potential home for Silent Hill 2’s remake. But that’s far from guaranteed. Whether or not Konami brings Silent Hill 2’s remake to the Switch 2 (or the existing Switch) remains to be seen, however.
These type of exclusivity deals are not uncommon in video games. Companies, like Konami in this case, work out a business arrangement with a platform-holder for this kind of exclusivity. In theory, the deal would benefit both parties. Sony presumably paid Konami for the exclusivity and Sony gets the benefit of PlayStation be the only console where people can buy the game for a year.
The issue doesn’t have relevance to PC gamers, who can buy the Silent Hill 2 remake on day one.
