It’s reportedly going to be a big week in the world of PlayStation, as Sony will host the next PlayStation State of Play briefing this week, according to reporter Jeff Grubb of GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb.
Many theorized a State of Play event could take place on September 24, and while Grubb didn’t confirm that outright, he said the event is happening “this week for sure.” Pressed for more details on what the event might include in terms of news, Grubb said he doesn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but he did say he expects the event to focus on third-party projects and remasters.
Rumors and reports circulating recently have suggested that Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn could receive PS5 remasters, and these could be two announcements at the rumored State of Play.
If there is indeed a PlayStation State of Play this week, it would come not long after Sony confirmed the PS5 Pro and the 30th Anniversary PS5 console.
A State of Play might not be the only big gaming announcement event on tap for the semi-near future, as some believe Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal event may be lined up for as soon as this month. There is no genuine evidence of that, however, beyond wishful thinking and Nintendo’s own history of hosting events in September.
