Developer Dimps and publisher Bandai Namco have announced that Freedom Wars Remastered will launch on January 10, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Freedom Wars is a Monster Hunter-like game that takes place in a dystopian sci-fi world where humanity is imprisoned in city-states called Panopticons. Due to dwindling resources, Panopticons fight against each other for control and essentially every human is branded as a criminal. As a result, criminals are forced to fight against each other, as well as against huge robotic monsters called Abductors, to reduce their 1-million-year sentence.

This remaster includes improved visuals, with 4K resolution and 60fps, as well as adjusted game balance and difficulty options. The weapon crafting and upgrading systems will also be getting updates.

Freedom Wars was released for the PS Vita in 2015, developed by Japan Studio and published by Sony. Its online servers were shut down in December 2021. Dimps senior vice president Takashi Tsukamoto said that while Freedom Wars Remastered will not have cross-play with different platforms, online play will be available. PS4 and PS5 players, however, can play with each other and share online rankings.

The original Vita version of Freedom Wars only had Japanese audio, but Tsukamoto also confirmed that the remaster will feature English audio.
