Sony will launch its $700 PS5 Pro console later this year, but if that’s a little too rich for your blood, it looks like refurbished regular PS5s will be available soon at a more attractive price. A new “Certified Refurbished” section has been added to the PlayStation Direct site, with pricing starting at $350 for a PS5 Digital Edition and $400 for a PS5 with a disc drive.

According to the page (via PushSquare), the PS5 consoles are “as good as new” and each one has been extensively cleaned. Refurbished consoles are typically PS5s that have been returned for a refund for a variety of reasons, thus turning them into pre-owned consoles. There might be some “minor cosmetic imperfections” Sony says on the PS5 listings, but these consoles do come with a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. A shipping date hasn’t been revealed yet, but Sony says it will be added soon.

This makes for a more affordable current-gen option, as the price of a PS5 has remained fixed in the US and has increased in other parts of the world. Sony has said that these price increases are related to global economic conditions like the COVID-19 pandemic and several other factors, leading to a console generation where prices have not dropped alongside reduced component costs. The price of DualSense controllers has also risen by $5, almost four years into the life-cycle of the PS5.

Meanwhile, the PS5 Pro console will cost $700 when it launches on November 7. The console won’t include a disc drive either, as anyone looking to upgrade will need to purchase the $80 disc-drive attachment if they want to play physical copies of their games or movies.
