What to expect
Sony has described the livestream as a nine-minute “technical presentation” focusing on the PS5 and innovations in gaming technology. Beyond that, the studio is keeping quiet about all things related to the PS5 Pro, which has been the subject of numerous leaks throughout the year. Sony might have already revealed the rumored console’s design, as in a PlayStation 30th Anniversary image released last week, eagle-eyed viewers spotted a rectangle with lines painted across it that could be the design of the PS5 Pro.
Sony may have also accidentally confirmed the PS5 Pro, as an unlisted video was discovered this week using that name before it was edited. Analysts are also predicting that a possible $650 price for the unconfirmed console, which is rumored to feature a more powerful GPU and CPU that developers can leverage to create “PS5 Pro enhanced” games for the system. Leaked technical specifications of the PS5 Pro indicate a console that will offer better and smoother image quality in 4K.
If the PS5 Pro is real and the subject of today’s livestream, it’ll fit into Sony’s mid-gen refresh playbook, as back in 2016, the company launched the PlayStation 4 Pro.
