After completing one of the two main storylines, you can unlock the Movie Theater in Stardew Valley. The unlock method changes depending on which story you pursue, but the purpose of the Movie Theater stays the same. You can invite a villager to go with you to a movie to improve your relationship, assuming you invite them to a movie they enjoy.
How to unlock the Stardew Valley Movie Theater
Taking a villager to a movie can earn you up to 250 friendship points.
The Movie Theater becomes available on the first day after a rainy or stormy night after completing all community center bundles or by purchasing all town upgrades via Joja Mart.
If you complete the community center bundles, the Joja Mart in town becomes abandoned, which opens up after a stormy night. Head inside and you can find the Missing Bundle.
To complete the missing bundle, you need five of the six following items:

If you did the Joja Mart path, the community center becomes the Joja warehouse. You can convert the warehouse into a movie theater by paying 500,000G.
How to use the Movie Theater
To see a movie, you simply need to purchase a ticket from the theater for 1,000G. A second ticket can be bought for the same price. To invite a villager you must give them the ticket the same way gifts are given and then you must go to the theater to watch the movie. You must go watch the movie the same day you give the ticket, otherwise it is wasted.
There are 8 movies total, rotating each season on a two year cycle. Seeing a movie with someone who loves it gains you 200 friendship points, while a liked movie gains 100 friendship points. Neutral or disliked movies neither increase nor decrease your friendship points.

In addition to the movie, there is a concessions counter. Giving a loved snack to a villager during the movie nets another 50 friendship points while a liked snack adds 25 friendship points. Again, a neutral or disliked snack has no impact. Only five snacks are offered at a time, with the game typically placing one loved and two liked snacks in the mix.
