BioWare has revealed what PC players can expect from Dragon Age: The Veilguard when it launches this October, explaining that the PC experience is important to the Veilguard team for multiple reasons. While some details won’t be revealed until closer to launch, the developer has already given PC players a lot to be excited about for the next Dragon Age title.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard promises a high level of customization and flexibility for PC players, from inputs to graphical output. Beginning with inputs, BioWare’s blog post says the PC edition of Veilguard will ship with native support for both keyboard-and-mouse play and controllers, with the latter including the PS5 DualSense as well as Xbox controllers. Players who want to set custom keybinds can even create a different keybind for each class they want to play, making it easier to switch between characters.
Veilguard will launch with full support for 21:9 ultrawide monitors, and options for uncapped frame rate, HDR, and FOV. The game will have a suite of ray-tracing features, ranging from selective ray tracing that is only enabled in specific scenes, to Ultra RT for players with high-end rigs. Veilguard will also support multiple types of upscaling: NVIDIA DLSS 3, a customized version of FSR 2.2, and XeSS.
BioWare has also said Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be fully Steam-native, and will be ready to go on Steam Deck at launch. The game supports multiple useful Steam features, including cloud saves and remote play. Linking to your EA account won’t be necessary to play Veilguard, but it will be an option.
“The Dragon Age franchise started out on PC, and we wanted to make sure PC is a great place to play our game,” BioWare said of the PC version of Veilguard. “Many of us at BioWare are PC players ourselves, and when testing, PCs made up 40% of our platform testing effort, with over 200,000 hours of performance and compatibility testing.”
You can see the current list of available PC settings below–though BioWare has said there is still more to be revealed for PC players ahead of the game’s launch on October 31.
