Call of Duty’s Season 4 Reloaded update is live in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, bringing maps and modes themed around mutations for the new Altered Strain seasonal event. This midseason update also adds the sledgehammer melee weapon. Here we’ll guide you through all the ways to unlock it for use.
How to unlock the Sledgehammer
The sledgehammer is described as a 20-pound slugger that offers an assortment of moves, including swings, an overhead attack, and a pole butt.
This melee weapon can be unlocked by completing any five weekly challenges from the Week 5 challenge list. There are 21 challenges in total for the week, spanning multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, but you can mix and match any five.

Additional Zombies unlock method
The sledgehammer can also be unlocked through a successful exfil in Zombies. If a friend has this new weapon already, just invite them to play a round of Zombies with the sledgehammer as their insured weapon. They can drop the melee weapon for you to pick up at the start of the match, and then you just need to successfully exfil with it. You might even get lucky and loot an enemy player who has this weapon equipped. This Zombies unlock method works for any weapon in the game.
Store bundle
Shop bundles usually feature new weapons to give an additional way to gain access to a new weapon without completing the unlock requirements. Currently, the in-game shop doesn’t feature the sledgehammer in any bundles, but one will likely arrive in a future shop update.
