Lego’s awesome Optimus Prime Lego set is discounted to $144 at Amazon. Normally $180, the 20% price cut matches the all-time low price for the 1,508-piece building kit. Optimus Prime is part of Lego’s Icons line, and we’d tend to agree the leader of the Autobots has earned its icon status. Optimus Prime became the first Transformers Lego set when it debuted in 2022. After two years of talking to himself and converting into a truck to take long aimless drives, Optimus finally has company. Lego released a 950-piece Bumblebee set in July. Just like Optimus, Bumblebee can transform from mech to car.
Optimus is ready to roll out.
What sets the Optimus Prime apart from many other licensed kits of this size is that they are highly interactive. Though you won’t be pulling off dynamic poses, you will be able to gently adjust the limbs of Optimus, equip him with his trademark ion blaster, and you can even replace his hand with his legendary Energon-Axe.
The real magic here is that Optimus can transform into his signature truck mode, easily shifting from Autobot commander to a big rig that’s ready to roll out. To get to that point is the fun part though, and with 10 bags filled with hundreds of bricks, it took us just over three hours to build everyone’s favorite Cybertronian.
Once you’re done, you’ll have a 13.5-inch Optimus Prime replica that has just the right amount of Lego flair to it, with only a few studs visible.
If Optimus Prime isn’t a large enough mech and you’re okay with mixing the MBCU (Michael Bay Cinematic Universe) with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Amazon has an even steeper discount on the 4,049-piece Hulkbuster Lego set from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The 20-inch Hulkbuster will tower over Optimus Prime while also hurting your wallet by a rather significant margin–even with the discount, Hulkbuster costs $327.
Speaking of the Michael Bay Cinematic Universe, the limited-edition Transformers 4K Blu-ray box set with the first six live-action Transformers films is only $77.49 at Amazon. An upcoming Transformers box set featuring all seven films, including 2023’s Rise of the Beasts, is available to preorder at Amazon ahead of its September 24 release.
