2K and Hangar 13 have announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition will be added to Game Pass on August 13 for console, PC, and cloud.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of the 2002 game with extra features such as additional vehicles, weapons, and outfits. It also implements Mafia 3’s gameplay mechanics, including shooting and cover systems. While driving within speed limits is no longer enforced, players can play on “Classic Mode,” which emulates the original experience–cops will pull the player over for speeding and first-aid kits will restore less health.

Back in 2022, Hangar 13 confirmed that it was developing a new Mafia game. Previously, Hangar 13 was reportedly working on a Mafia prequel in Unreal Engine 5 set in Italy, so it’s possible that the confirmed project is that prequel. However, Hangar 13 hasn’t released any new information since then.
In GameSpot’s Mafia: Definitive Edition review, we said, “Mafia: Definitive Edition might be an improvement on the original game, but its modernization stops short of the mark, resulting in an uneven game that squanders its enticing potential.”
Mafia: Definitive Edition is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also now available in select Fire Stick 4K TV devices, so players can enjoy Game Pass games without the need for a console.
