For decades, Hideo Kojima was one of the top video game designers and directors at Konami, as well as the driving force behind the Metal Gear series. But in 2015, Kojima left Konami behind and struck out on his own. The relationship between the two sides was reportedly strained, with Geoff Keighley revealing Kojima was not allowed by Konami to attend that year’s Game Awards. Regardless, at least one producer at Konami would love to bring Kojima back to the franchise he created.

Via Video Game Chronicle, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater producer Noriaki Okamura expressed his admiration for Kojima during a live stream. Okamura also shared his desire to have Kojima return to Metal Gear Solid in the future.

“Just speaking for myself, personally, I’d like nothing better than to work with Mr. Kojima and the rest of the team again,” said Okamura. “If that could happen, it would be the dream.”

Okamura qualified his remarks by noting that Kojima and his team may not share the same sentiment about returning to Konami. Despite Kojima’s lack of involvement with the remake of Snake Eater, his story is intact in Metal Gear Solid Delta and the game will feature the original voice recordings including David Hayter’s performance as Naked Snake/Big Boss.

As for Kojima, he and his team have more than enough projects to work on, including Death Stranding 2, OD for Xbox Series X, and a new property with Sony that has yet to be officially unveiled.
