Designed to be a budget-friendly VR headset, the Quest 3S shares a lot of hardware with its big brother, the Quest 3. It has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset and 8GB of RAM, and this model ships with a pair of Touch Pro controllers that you can use to interact with apps and games. The battery life on this model is also better–up to two-and-a-half hours from a full charge compared to the two hours on the Quest 3–but the compromises here include the use of the same 1832 x 1920 fresnel lenses found in the Quest 2, a narrower field of vision, and no depth sensor.
Overall, this is still a great headset for anyone looking to dip their feet in virtual reality, enjoy a few rounds of the John Wick-simulator Pistol Whip, or do some virtual tourism.
In case it sells out, Target is also offering a special deal on the Quest 3S, and it applies to both the 128GB and 256GB models. While you won’t get a $75 voucher if you purchase from that retailer, you will get a three-month trial of Quest+, a subscription service that gives you access to a rotating library of games and two curated titles each month. You’ll also get Batman: Arkham Shadow, and combined, that’s $70 of value right there.

If you’re looking for something that caters toward visually impressive gaming, Sony is also offering a Black Friday deal on its wired PlayStation VR 2 bundle currently. Normally $600, you can get one with the stunning game Horizon Call of the Mountain for $349–a massive savings of $251. The standalone headset is also on sale for $349 (was $550) so these are some big discounts, but you will need a PS5 console to make use of this or a PC via a $60 adapter and SteamVR.
