Game designer Ben Hinchliffe worked at Rockstar Games for more than a decade, and he contributed to games like Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption II, and Grand Theft Auto VI before leaving the company in 2022. In a new interview, Hinchliffe briefly discussed GTA VI, saying he believes the game will “blow people away” and be a smashing success when it comes to sales.

“It will sell an absolute ton, as it always does. People will be talking about it for ages afterwards, just like they do with GTA 5,” Hinchliffe told GTA VI O’clock. “I think they’ve raised the bar again. They always do, and they have done again with GTA 6.”

Ex-lead designer Ben Hinchliffe stated that GTAVI is in the bug fixing phase and that mission design, which gives players freedom is what makes the game good.
He’s also excited to see how much the game has changed since he left in 2021.

Asked what he’s most excited about for GTA VI, Hinchliffe said he’s keen to see how the game has evolved since he left in 2022. He didn’t give much away, though, which is to be expected for such a secretive project. Hinchliffe now works at Sniper Elite VR studio Just Add Water.

GTA VI is set for release in Holiday 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is set in Vice City, which is a stand-in for Miami, Florida. The game’s first trailer was released in early December 2023, and to date, Rockstar Games has not released any additional footage or official details about the game.

GTA VI is coming to market with an enormous amount of hype and expectation behind it. After all, GTA V has sold more than 200 million copies. Parent company Take-Two will releases its next earnings report on November 6, but there is no word yet on if there will be any news about GTA VI.
